Ford, School District Partnership Geared Toward Talent

Education and business leaders in southeast Indiana are praising a partnership between Greater Clark County Schools and the Ford Motor Company Fund. The district and its Academies of Greater Clark have officially been named a Ford Next Generation Learning community, a distinction Greater Clark Superintendent Andrew Melin says will have benefits "for years to come."
Officials gathered Wednesday at Charlestown High School to make the announcement.
The Academies of Greater Clark program offers career-focused training in fields including engineering, healthcare, technology and marketing. The Ford NGL network supports this type of college and career readiness by partnering with local education and business communities to better align the needs of the work force with the areas of emphasis in schools.
One Southern Indiana Chief Executive Officer Wendy Dant Chesser says "regional growth will succeed only if we address our growing need for people to fill the needs of our employers, now and in the future. 1si has agreed to be the Community Convening Organization for the transition to Ford NGL academies and we will continue to partner with all regional school systems, including Greater Clark County Schools, to ensure we are acting as a region to address labor shortages."
The Ford NGL process involves developing a three-year master plan with the help of the organization as well as more than 50 regional educators, community leaders and business representatives to boost the number of students learning in career academies.
