Forbes has released its inaugural list of the best banks and credit unions in every state. The publication, along with market research firm Statista, surveyed more than 25,000 U.S. customers who rated the banks on criteria such as satisfaction, branch services, and financial advice.
Ohio-based Huntington Bancshares Inc. (Nasdaq: HBAN) is ranked at the top of the list of banks in Indiana. Huntington is also the top-ranked bank in Michigan and Wisconsin. South Bend-based 1st Source Corp. (Nasdaq: SRCE) is the highest-ranked bank headquartered in Indiana.
In a news release, 1st Source President James Seitz said, "Winning this award validates that we are genuinely serving customers in ways that are true to our values of providing outstanding customer service and superior quality."
The other Indiana banks on the list include Lake City Bank in Warsaw, Centier Bank in Merrillville, and First Merchants Bank in Muncie. Three credit unions are also included on the list. Indiana Members Credit Union, Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union, and Crane Credit Union are all featured.
Forbes says major banks such as Chase, Bank of America and Wells Fargo were not included because they have branches in at least 15 states. You can connect to the full rankings by state and methodology by clicking here.
