The Indiana Department of Education has named Susan Gargano the 2016 Indiana School Food Service Employee of the Year. She is food service manager at Frank O’Bannon Elementary School in Hammond. Gargano received $200 from the Indiana Nutrition Council and a plaque from the Department of Education. For 19 years, the Indiana School Food Service Employee of the Year Award has provided formal recognition to school food service employees who contribute significantly to the health and learning capabilities of students.  Nominees must demonstrate high-quality customer service, attitude, professionalism and teamwork.
