Soggy parking lots and fields will not wash out a car show scheduled to take place next week at Fair Oaks Farms. The South Shore Air Show scheduled for the same venue was canceled because of flooding. July 2, 2014

News Release

Fair Oaks, Ind. — The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority and Fair Oaks Farms will be hosting the South Shore Regional Car Show on Thursday, July 10, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Fair Oaks Farms. The event, which is sponsored by Schepel Buick GMC Cadillac, is expected to attract hundreds of classic and antique cars for the one-day car show.

“Though we had to cancel the South Shore Air Show, plans for the South Shore Regional Car Show remain as scheduled,” said Speros A. Batistatos, president and CEO of the South Shore CVA.

According to Batistatos, attendees can also enjoy a DJ and music, an appearance by the Indianapolis Colts cheerleaders and the Colts In Motion traveling museum, a 1969 Nostalgia Top Fuel Dragster, a beer garden, discounted Fair Oaks Farms attractions, a performance by the National Anthem Girl and a fireworks show.

Spectator admission is a $2 donation or one canned good, with all proceeds benefitting the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana. For each $2 donation or one canned good, a raffle ticket will be given. Additional raffle tickets will be given for higher donations or more canned goods: Two raffle tickets for $5 or three canned goods; five raffle tickets for $10 or five canned goods; and ten raffle tickets for $20 or more or ten or more canned goods. Raffle prizes will be awarded every half hour from 4:00 p.m. through 7:30 p.m.

“The South Shore Regional Car Show will be a very exciting event. With 14 different car categories and the chance at 90 different awards for participants, attendees can expect a variety of classic and antique cars,” explained Batistatos.

Pre-registration to participate in the South Shore Regional Car Show is open through Thursday, July 3, and costs $20. Pre-registration includes a T-shirt and a dash plaque. Online registration July 4 through July 8 and day-of registration will cost $20 while T-shirts will be sold separately and dash plaques will be available while supplies last. Registration is from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and the presentation of awards begins at 7:30 p.m.

Categories for the South Shore Regional Car Show include Pre-WWII (1945 and earlier), antique cars (1945-1964), classic cars (1965-1994), muscle cars (American-made 1949-1994), hot rods (1923-1948, open and closed), custom cars (cars with four or more major modifications), modern American cars (1995-present), modern import cars (1980-present), trucks (pre-1965 or 1965-present), stock Corvettes, modified Corvettes, custom bikes (both domestic and import), and antique tractors.
