Flanner And Buchanan Acquire Indy Funeral Home

Indianapolis-based Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Centers has acquired Lavenia & Summers Home for Funerals in Indianapolis. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but the company says no jobs will be affected.
The more than century-old company says the acquisition means Lavenia & Summers will return to Hoosier ownership. George Brown, general manager of Lavenia & Summers, says the acquisition allows them to take their service to the next level.
"Now in our 135th anniversary year, this is a great opportunity to continue Flanner and Buchanan’s mission to help improve our community," said Owner Bruce Buchanan. "We will now focus on the iconic East 38th Street location with plans for many upgrades to the building, including new service amenities."
Lavenia & Summers was formed in 2002, following the merger of Lavenia’s Home for Funerals and Summers Funeral Chapel, which were founded in 1987 and 1962, respectively.
