Fishers to Kick Off Extended ‘Shop Fishers’ Event

The city of Fishers will Saturday kick off its citywide Shop Fishers celebration. The city says the event, which is typically meant to mark Small Business Saturday, will be extended through the end of the year as a way to encourage residents “to support local businesses all season long.”
More than 60 local businesses are participating in Shop Fishers this year, which is a record. The businesses will be offering special deals and promotions for customers.
“Local retailers and restaurants are a critical component of the vibrancy and culture of our city,” Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness said in a news release. “In a year where so many have been hit hard, it’s important to remember that by shopping locally, statistics show that local businesses generate upwards of 70% more local economic activity per square foot than big box retail.”
Shop Fishers is encouraging residents to shop and dine safely during the holiday season by taking advantage of reduced-contact services, including online ordering, carryout, delivery and curbside pickup.
