Fishers to Break Ground on ‘The Yard’

Officials will Thursday break ground on a $110 million culinary and entertainment hub in Fishers. When complete, The Yard at Fishers District will feature restaurants and a culinary accelerator, in addition to hotel, residential and retail space.
Plans for The Yard, which will sit on 17 acres near the Fishers IKEA store, were first announced in December 2016. A year later, Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness announced St. Elmo’s extensions 1933 Lounge and Burger Study as the first tenants of the development, both of which are slated to open in July 2019.
Indianapolis-based Sun King Brewing Co. will be another tenant at The Yard. The brewery announced in January plans for a $2.5 million specialty production craft brewery and tap room, slated to open next summer.
Developer Thompson Thrift Retail Group is also working on a major mixed-use development at The Yard, which will include 250 luxury apartments, 120,000 square feet of retail space, a three-story parking garage and the recently-announced dual-branded Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotel.
The hotel, which is being built by Dunn Hospitality Group, will feature two different hotel brands inside one six-story building. The developers anticipate beginning construction on the 211-room hotel in August, which will take 15 months to complete. The project is expected to create 50 jobs. The project’s initial price tag was $40 million, but jumped to $110 million with the addition of the hotel development.
In a Studio (i) interview in December, Fadness talked about The Yard after the first two tenants were announced. You can view that interview below:
