Fishers Tech Company Celebrates 20 Years

A technology company that started in a San Francisco apartment with a server that doubled as a coffee table is celebrating 20 years in business. Fishers-based Six Feet Up Inc. is a Python software and cloud consulting company whose clients today include NASA, Bank of America and high-profile universities such as the University of Notre Dame and UCLA. The company moved to Indiana in 2003 and last year opened up a new office in the Fishers Technology Park.

Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Calvin Hendryx-Parker said the cost of living in the Bay Area led to the decision to move to Indiana, along with the ability to grow the business in a controlled, organic way. In an interview on Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick, Hendryx-Parker talked about prospects for growth. 

"The real growth has happened in the last two or three years and all of that growth has been in data science, machine learning, analytics, artificial intelligence and I think that’s where I see us growing as well," said Hendryx-Parker. "When we look over the next two years, we’d love to be able to double our existing staff. We already have a lot of demand for the type of services we’re doing around cloud transformational services, Python enhancements to existing applications or helping to build machine learning and artificial intelligence apps."

Hendryx-Parker says the company’s expertise with the Python programming language has helped drive growth over the past few years. Six Feet Up also hosts the Indianapolis Python Meetup, or "IndyPy," which Hendryx-Parker says is the largest single tech meetup in the Indianapolis area.
