City officials will announce the first two restaurant commitments at The Yard. Plans for the district, which were first announced a year ago, include attracting familiar and new restaurant names, as well as serving as a culinary entrepreneurial hub and a place for gatherings.
Terre Haute-based Thompson Thrift Retail Group, developer of The Yard, and the city expect to break ground in the first half of next year. During an interview in August on Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick, Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness said the concept has already served as a tool to attract new business to the Hamilton County city.
Wednesday’s announcement is set for 10 a.m. at the site, which is located near the recently-opened IKEA, Portillo’s and Top Golf properties. Clearing the 17-acres, which was previously a neighborhood and could include more than a dozen restaurants and a hotel, began in late-September. Inside INdiana Business will have more on the announcement in the INside Edge enewsletter.
