The operator of the Indiana Toll Road says the first two sections of the 80/90 PUSH pavement project have reopened to traffic. Granger-based Indiana Toll Road Concession Co. says additional work on the $200 million project has halted for the Memorial Day weekend and will resume June 1.
The $200 million project, which was announced in February, aims to upgrade the toll road between Portage and Elkhart. The improvements include work to interchanges, pavement and bridges, along with the installation of fiber optic lines.
ITRCC says crews finished work on the first section, between mile markers 22 and 30, on Friday. The second section, between mile markers 42 and 49, were reopened tor traffic on Tuesday.
Crews will resume work Tuesday evening on the next two sections in eastern LaPorte County and western St. Joseph County.
