First Merchants Corp. has named Mark Hardwick chief operating officer. He will assume those duties in addition to his roles as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Hardwick joined First Merchants in 1997 as corporate controller and was promoted to chief financial officer in 2002. He previously served as a senior accountant with BKD LLP in Indianapolis. Hardwick received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA from Ball State University. He is a certified public accountant and a graduate of the Stonier School of Banking.
