First Merchants Breaking Ground in Indy

(Nasdaq: FRME) is breaking ground on a new banking center in Indianapolis. The bank says the new location in the city’s Avondale Meadows neighborhood is part of an ongoing effort to invest in underserved communities.
Financial details of the bank’s investment in the new location were not disclosed.
First Merchants says the new bank, located at the intersection of East 38th Street and Meadows Drive, will provided needed financial opportunities for area residents and businesses.
Executives from the bank, along with Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett and City-County Council President Vop Osili, will Wednesday host an on-site ceremony to mark the start of the project. First Merchants is expected to provide information regarding construction activity as well as remarks from President Mike Rechin and other company employees.
