First Internet Bank Breaks Ground on Fishers Headquarters

First Internet Bank has broken ground on its new headquarters in downtown Fishers. First Internet Bank Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer David Becker says Fishers is a “natural fit” for the company’s headquarters.
The nearly 170,000-square-foot development will have the capacity for about 600 employees, however First Internet will start out with 250-300 working from the new location.
Becker says the company will lease out about 60,000-square-feet of extra space in the six-story development on the first and second floors to tenants, until it expands further to utilize that space.
Becker says the project, including the new building, five-story 750 car garage behind it, and a hotel to the west of the development separating First Internet from the Nickel Trail, cost around $100 million, however a final investment quote is still being determined.
The new development will be on 116th Street, a location Becker tells Inside INdiana Business was a big selling point for the new HQ.
“We have a lot of employees who have moved to the Fishers community and when the opportunity came up to build the building downtown here it just seemed like a natural fit. It’s been fantastic for us, we operate as a branchless organization, with clientele in 50 states so there was no bearing to put us in one place or another. We like the feel of the downtown area here in Fishers, it’s growing on a daily basis, with a lot of housing and retail and restaurant amenities in the city. So, employees can walk to work, live in the neighborhood, walk to lunch and it’s a great opportunity for us,” he said in an interview with Inside INdiana Business.
Becker and city of Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness joined First Internet Bank Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Nicole Lorch, Browning Investments Adam Chavers, Senior Vice President of Development,Browning Day Mullins Dierdorf John Dierdorf, Chairman for the groundbreaking event Tuesday.
The project, first announced in last year, is slated for completion in August 2021.
