Subscribe NowThe Indiana Department of Natural Resources has awarded more than $284,000 in Volunteer Fire Assistance grants to rural and volunteer fire departments in 40 counties. The grants can be used for training, installation of dry hydrants or to purchase equipment to combat wildland fires.
The grants are made available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service and administered by the DNR Division of Forestry. Recipients are chosen based on population density, acres of protected public wildlands, and wildland fire reporting to the DNR.
