Federal Grant to Expand Flagship Center

The Economic Development Administration in the U.S. Department of Commerce is awarding a more than $738,000 grant to the Flagship Enterprise Center in Anderson. The funding will help expand the Flagship Manufacturing Center and the public-private partnership says the project will create or retain more than 125 jobs.
The EDA says the funding will help construct a new manufacturing floor at an existing manufacturing center operated by the FEC. The expansion is expected to spur $5.6 million in private investment.
"We commend the Flagship Enterprise Center for its innovative strategy to generate new economic opportunities throughout Indiana," said Deputy Assistant Secretary for Regional Affairs Dennis Alvord. "This project will allow the Flagship Manufacturing Center to expand operations, giving entrepreneurs and local businesses access to the tools they need to grow and thrive."
The new jobs that will result from the project will include engineers and manufacturing technicians. The EDA says they will help accelerate the economic revitalization of the region.
