The first section of a bridge connecting Indiana and Kentucky has come down. Crews used a controlled explosion Tuesday morning to destroy the 700-foot portion of the Milton-Madison Bridge. The Indiana Department of Transportation has posted video of the controlled explosion. The entire bridge, which was built in 1929, will be demolished in a series of blasts over the next few weeks.

Construction on the $103 million replacement bridge should be complete this year.

INDOT says the project is expected to create, or preserve, 1,400 jobs.
