Tanya and Bill Mentgen say the venue, which they call the first of its kind in Putnam County, will bring new tourism dollars to the city and county.
The venue, which will be known as 3 Fat Labs Wedding and Event Barn, will have 14,000 square feet of space that can fit 300 patrons. Tanya Mentgen says the facility, which is already accepting bookings, plays into "rural chic" trends and aims to attract new visitor business to the county.
"Rural, woodsy wedding and event sites offer folks the opportunity to custom-plan happenings according to their individual tastes," said Mentgen. "A beautiful barn setting offers a certain coziness that can be adapted to everything from a pastoral to a luxurious ambiance."
The project is expected to be complete in early 2018.
