The Indiana Sports Corp. is gearing up for its annual Geared for Health Distribution day. More than 40,000 pieces of donated sports equipment will be given to more than 100 youth-serving organizations from throughout the state Thursday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis.
The ISC says the event is expected to provide $250,000 in budget relief and impact more than 100,000 children throughout Indiana. Businesses, retailers, nonprofits and individuals have donated all types of sporting equipment, including shoes, golf clubs, baseball bats, hockey sticks and more.
"Developing opportunities for youth in sports is a large part of the mission of Indiana Sports Corp.," said ISC President Ryan Vaughn. "Geared for Health is all about connecting the people who run youth sports organizations to the sports equipment they need. Providing kids with the equipment they need to play is the best way get kids off the couch and engaged in their own health and wellness."
