While “globalization” has been a buzzword in the business world for years, it has taken on added significance recently in Indiana. The U.S. Department of Commerce says 2014 merchandise exports from Indiana topped $35 billion, and the International Center in Indianapolis wants to help Hoosier businesses snag a bigger piece of that pie. The center will hold a three-part training session beginning next week designed to help companies succeed in the global market. During a Studio(i) interview, Global Competency Training Manager Ansuyah Naiken said international markets, particularly China and India, have an “insatiable appetite” for imported goods. The 2015 Leadership Across Cultures training series will take place over three consecutive Fridays. Sessions are on April 17, April 24 and May 1.

The International Center says guest speakers include:

Brian Cox, Global Talent Management and Staffing Director for Elanco Animal Health; Rajan Gajaria, Vice President, Americas for Dow Agro Sciences; Michael Overdorf, Vice President, Corporate Strategy at Eli Lilly and Company; and Dr. Yulia Tolstikov-Mast, Assistant Professor and Lead Faculty, Global Leadership Ph.D. at Indiana Tech.

The Department of Commerce report shows Indiana's top industrial goods exports to the EU include machinery products, chemicals and automotive products.
