Event to Focus on Waterway Development
An initiative aimed at turning Indianapolis' waterways into community and economic development assets will give its annual report to the community today. Reconecting to Our Waterways will detail past and future projects at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art. Reconnecting to Our Waterways says several projects are slated for this year, including:
–BWI is redeveloping a building into a multi-family residential property at Fall Creek and 38th, just adjacent to the Fairgrounds. The project is called The Overlook at Fall Creek.
–In December 2014, the City of Indianapolis announced $5 million in new project investments along waterways that will launch in 2015. This investment leverages private funding from the Kresge Foundation ($1.35M) and CICF ($300K) to fund creative placemaking strategies and projects.
–At ROWport, we'll also announce $250,000 in awards for more creative placemaking projects.
The event will also feature presentations from leaders from Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly and Co. (NYSE: LLY), Butler University and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful.
