The founder of a Fishers-based events planning software business says the company is a product of the "forward-looking" sports event community in Indianapolis. During an interview on a special edition of Inside INdiana Business focusing on women in entrepreneurship, The Registration System Founder Florence May said word of mouth from events including four Super Bowls, 16 Final Fours and several major college sports conference championships, has helped TRS grow.
May, a longtime veteran of the sports and event management industry, says competition is stiff as the economy moves more toward technological integration. "Everything’s got to talk to each other, so (there are) really some incredible opportunities as we go into this next decade."
The Registration System, which connects users with volunteer, conference and ticketing solutions, was launched in 2000. Since her first big event in 2000, the Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix in Indianapolis, May says she feels like she has to take the next step. "There’s always things we haven’t done. We’ve done Olympic trials, but we haven’t done Olympic games yet. There’s a lot of opportunities out there."
The company will be involved with the upcoming Republican and Democratic National Conventions in Cleveland and Philadelphia, respectively. Its 2016 schedule also includes the Indianapolis 500 Festival and Kentucky Derby Festival.
