Our partners at WTVW report the agreement with HCW Development LLC still needs approval from Evansville's city council and redevelopment commission. The Hilton Double Tree hotel will feature more than 250 rooms and could include apartment space as well. If the project is approved, construction could begin later this year, and the hotel could open in 2015.
The station reports HCW is not expected to receive tax abatement on the development.
Earlier this year, Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke called the hotel a “transformational project” for the downtown area.
