The Evansville City Council has voted to approve a more than $300 million budget for 2014. One measure left without funding is a $1.5 million proposal to pay for a park where Roberts Stadium once stood. Our partners at Eyewitness News in Evansville report Mayor Lloyd Winnecke is “disappointed” by the move to not fund the plan. Council members instead called for a more thorough proposal that funded improvements to the entire parks system.

Winnecke remains confident a way to pay for Roberts Park will be found.

Major work at the 7-acre park may have to wait for another year.
