Evansville Company Scores Military Contract Boost

The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded a major contract boost to Evansville-based AmeriQual Group LLC. The more than $30 million modification calls for the company to produce first strike rations for the military.
The original contract was a one year deal with four one-year option periods. The latest boost is the fourth option for the base contract. Work will be performed in Indiana and is expected to be complete in August of 2017.
AmeriQual is a food processing company that "specializes in the development, processing, packaging and distributing of high quality shelf-stable foods," according to its website. The Defense Logistics Agency, which is the contracting activity, says a first strike ration is a "compact, eat-on-the-move assault ration designed for short durations of highly mobile, high intensity combat operations."
