Evansville Airport Upgrades Dallas Service

Evansville Airport Upgrades Dallas Service American Airlines began service between Evansville and Dallas in June 2005.

Evansville Regional Airport will soon be able to accommodate more travelers to Dallas. The airport has announced an upgrade to American Airlines’ service to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, which includes larger planes.

Evansville Airport says, beginning April 4, American Airlines will use a CRJ-900 aircraft, which features 26 more seats than the current aircraft being used. The additional seats include nine first-class seats.

In a news release Monday, Leslie Fella, director of marketing and air service for the airport, said the upgrades were based on performance and potential.

"We increased our frequency to Dallas from one daily round trip to two in November, and our market is handling the increase in seats very well," said Fella. "The larger jets are a result of this customer demand, and as our performance continues on this positive trend, American Airlines will be more likely to keep the larger aircraft in our market and potentially add more."

The airport says the upgrades will bring an annual increase of more than 14,000 departing seats and about 30,000 extra seats to the Evansville market. Evansville Regional Airport Executive Director Doug Joest says he is pleased with the upgrades.

"The larger jets to Dallas will immediately benefit area businesses and leisure travelers with more opportunity to access the Dallas area, the west coast and international markets, while also providing the travel conveniences that our customers demand," Joest said.
