The Northeast Indiana Innovation Center has set dates for two events designed to boost growth of small businesses. The “Bootstrapper's Roadmap” workshops are planned for next month and December and will discuss overcoming mistakes, clarifying goals and innovation. October 15, 2013

News Release

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Northeast Indiana Innovation Center announced today that it is delivering a workshop for small businesses geared toward using “bootstrapping techniques” to accelerate their growth and success. The workshop, titled “The Bootstrapper's Roadmap to Profitable Growth” is sponsored by Sam’s Club.

“The Northeast Indiana Innovation Center (NIIC) is proud to be selected by Sam’s Club as the local host and entrepreneurial support provider to work with Sam’s Club leaders to deliver this innovative workshop series. These “hands on” workshops, taught by experts and practitioners, will give existing small businesses (with special emphasis on women, minority, and veteran owned businesses) the edge they need to not only sharpen their focus on their business but to reimagine the potential of their business,” stated Karl R. LaPan, President & CEO, Northeast Indiana Innovation Center.

This free 2-part workshop will focus on key areas that business owners need-to-know or struggle with during their crucial time for growth and development. The participants will explore the fundamental business tools and techniques to think differently about growth, innovation, and their business model. In addition, business owners will have an opportunity to recognize their entrepreneurial blind spots by learning and assessing their behaviors, reflecting on their motivations, dreams, and aspirations and by gaining greater self-awareness into their personal strengths/talents and by identifying opportunities for professional development and improvement.

Owners will also ask the tough questions regarding clarifying goals, setting strategies, and executing the strategies. They will experience and learn from practitioners and serial entrepreneurs how they handle some of the major barriers and obstacles facing emerging growth businesses: access to capital, building vibrant social networks, growing organically, and overcoming business mistakes and failures.

“Our goal is to give small businesses the tools they need to grow,” said Karl R. LaPan, Innovation Center President and CEO. “We appreciate the generous support of Sam’s Club in making this workshop series a reality for our community.”

The workshop will be delivered in 2 parts on the following days:

Part 1: The Owners Toolbox: November 5, 2013 from 1 – 4p.m. or November 6, 2013 from 8 – 11a.m.

Part 2: The Owners Dilemmas: December 3, 2013 from 8 – 11a.m. or December 5, 2013 from 1 – 4p.m.
