Emmis Chief Wins ‘Best Broadcaster’ Award

(Nasdaq: EMMS) has won a major industry award. Radio Ink magazine has named Jeff Smulyan "America’s Best Broadcaster" for 2016.
The honor was announced Thursday as part of the publications 2016 Radio Wayne Awards. According to Radio Ink, the awards are presented to" the radio superstars whose hard work, dedication, and creativity separate them from the pack. They recognize the people who make the industry work, every single day."
The award comes more than a month after Smulyan announced his offer to buy Emmis’ outstanding publicly-held shares and take the company private. Earlier this month, Smulyan extended the deadline for the offer to September 30 at which point, according to filing with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission, the offer "will expire without any further action of any party."
