An effort to improve quality of life in Elkhart County takes another step forward today. The Elkhart County Convention and Visitors Bureau’s Vibrant Communities Steering Committee will unveil a proposed action plan based on ideas from the public.
The organization says, over five months, the committee engaged close to 1,000 Elkhart County residents. The plan focuses on areas including green spaces and arts and cultural institutions. The presentation begins at 5:00 local time in the Lerner Theater. Interurban Trolley will also provide free rides to downtown Elkhart before and after the summit.
In March, Elkhart was named one of six recipients to take part in a $1 million private investment fund aimed at urban land revitalization. The effort, through Chicago-based Fresh Coast Capital, involves turning vacant land into working landscapes of trees, flowers and urban agriculture.
