Vibrant Communities, led by the Community Foundation of Elkhart County and the Elkhart County Convention & Visitors Bureau, has wrapped up a series of Community Conversations, which officials say provided "amazing ideas."
Organizers say small, informal gatherings in places like homes and churches will continue. The feedback will be used to help draw-up an "Action Agenda," driven by the community, to evaluate existing amenities and starting new ones. Amenities include arts and cultural venues and programs, parks and walking/biking trails and other recreation opportunities.
Over 500 Elkhart County residents participated in the series of Community Conversations in Elkhart, Goshen, Middlebury/Bristol, Nappanee/Wakarusa and a countywide gathering.
Concepts that emerged from the small groups at the events include: a community center in Goshen, an IMAX theater in Elkhart, more dog parks, more children-focused arts and recreational activities, expansion of bike/walking trails and food trucks.

A draft version of the Action Agenda will be presented for public input in early May.
