A prominent Indiana financial advisor will take a leadership role in the Indiana Economic Development Corp. next month. Elaine Bedel, founder and chief executive officer of Bedel Financial Consulting Inc., will serve as president of the IEDC. She succeeds Jim Schellinger, who transitions to secretary of commerce in the new administration.
Bedel is a regular contributor to Inside INdiana Business’ Perspectives section. She previously served as director of personal finance planning at Coopers and Lybrand. Bedel is also an author and nationally-recognized speaker.
Holcomb says Bedel will bring "bold leadership and extensive experience" to the office, adding those traits "will be great assets to promote Indiana’s positive business climate and jobs magnet reputation."
In a release from the IEDC, Schellinger agreed, saying, "Elaine’s firsthand experience as a business owner and her considerable leadership in the private sector will make her a tremendous asset to the IEDC and to businesses across Indiana, strengthening the state’s economic momentum and propelling Indiana to the next level."
Bedel holds degrees from Hanover College and Butler University. She was recognized in 2014 as an Enterprising Woman of the Year by Enterprising Women Magazine and earned a Trailblazer Award from the National Association of Women Business Owners.
