Education Secretary to Visit Indiana

U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos will be in Indiana Friday on the final leg of her “Rethink School” tour. DeVos will visit schools in Gary, Indianapolis and Hancock County.
Devos will visit a school in Missouri before heading to Indiana on the last day of the tour. Her office says the tour, which began Tuesday, highlights "the unique ways in which educators across the country are meeting the needs of individual students."
"There are so many new and exciting ways state-based education leaders and advocates are truly rethinking education,” DeVos said in a news release. “It is our goal with this tour to highlight what’s working. We want to encourage local education leaders to continue to be creative, to empower parents with options and to expand student-centered education opportunities.”
In Indiana, DeVos will first visit 21st Century Charter School in Gary from 11:30 a.m. to 1:10 p.m. CT, then travel to Indianapolis to visit Hope Academy Recovery High School from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. She will end the tour at Eastern Hancock High School for its football game and pig roast from 6:10 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
DeVos has also visited schools in Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, and Kansas during the tour.
