Michigan City Economic Development Names Officers

Michigan City has announced 2017 officers for its board of directors. Rick Dekker, chief executive officer of Dekker Vacuum Technologies Inc., will serve as board chair and The News Dispatch Publisher Bill Hackney will be vice chair. Dekker succeeds Don Babcock, director of economic development for NIPSCO, as board chair. Babcock will continue to serve on the board through 2018. The board also re-elected Tom Edwards, president and chief credit officer for Horizon Bank, as treasurer. The organization says all officers were elected unanimously by the board.
Three new members were also elected to three-year terms on the board of directors. They include: Mary Jo Orlowski, president of the Michigan City Area Chamber of Commerce; Linda Simmons, director of marketing for the LaPorte County Conventions and Visitors Bureau and Dean Mazzoni, president and CEO of Franciscan Health-Michigan City.
