EDCMC Names 2017 Board Officers

The Economic Development Corp. Michigan City has announced the 2017 officers for its board of directors. Rick Dekker, chief executive officer of Dekker Vacuum Technologies Inc., will serve as board chair and The News Dispatch publisher Bill Hackney will be vice chair.
Dekker succeeds Don Babcock, director of economic development for NIPSCO, as board chair. Babcock will continue to serve on the board through 2018.
"It has been an honor to serve as Chairman of the EDCMC Board of Directors over the last year," said Babcock. "The EDCMC and others have helped create a lot of momentum to move this community forward. Having an organization like the EDCMC leading the charge for economic development in Michigan City will continue to show businesses and developers that Michigan City, Indiana is ready and open for business."
The board also reelected Tom Edwards, president and chief credit officer for Horizon Bank, as treasurer. The organization says all officers were elected unanimously by the board.
Three new members were also elected to three-year terms on the board of directors. They include:
- Mary Jo Orlowski, President of the Michigan City Area Chamber of Commerce
- Linda Simmons, Director of Marketing for the LaPorte County Conventions and Visitors Bureau
- Dean Mazzoni, President and CEO of Franciscan Health-Michigan City
