The organization charged with leading business development in the eastern part of the state will soon be under new leadership.
The East Central Indiana Regional Partnership this week announced that CEO Trevor Friedeberg is stepping down at the end of the month. He will be replaced in the interim by longtime ECIRP Vice President Caitlin Hancock.
The ECIRP serves Blackford, Delaware, Fayette County, Grant, Henry, Jay, Randolph, Rush and Wayne counties. The organization is instrumental in advocating for and implementing Indiana’s Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative, or READI, grants.
“I’m honored to step into this role and build upon the strong foundation Trevor and our team have worked so hard to create,” said Hancock in a press release. “East Central Indiana is full of opportunity, and I’m excited to continue our work to strengthen the region, grow partnerships, and move forward with energy and purpose.”
Friedeberg has been the leader of ECIRP since 2022. The organization said he is leaving for a job closer to his family.
“This was not an easy decision,” said Friedeberg in the release. “It comes after much soul-searching and reflection. I care deeply about this region, and I will truly miss the people the most—our dedicated community leaders, partners, and the incredible team that has become like family.”
Friedeberg helped publish a strategic vision for the ECIRP in 2023 that focused on reversing population decline and increasing quality of place in the region. Now Hancock will continue that work.
Hancock has been the vice president of strategy and operations with ECIRP since 2010.
