Eagles Theatre Project Lands Matching Grant

The Dekko Foundation in Kendallville has awarded a matching grant opportunity of up to $100,000 to The Honeywell Foundation in Wabash. The funding willl help provide sensory-friendly movies to be shown weekly at the Eagles Theatre, which is undergoing a massive renovation.
The Honeywell Foundation says it needs to raise the funds from businesses and individuals in Kosciusko, Whitley, Dekalb, Noble, Lagrange and Steuben counties to receive the match. The organization has already raised $50,000 and must receive all donations by December 15.
Cathy Gatchel, vice president of development and marketing for the Honeywell Foundation, says the grant is an "amazing opportunity that wil engage audiences in the future programming held in the newly-renovated Eagles Theatre." Sensory-friendly movies, the organization says, feature decreased sound, increased lighting and an informal atmosphere allowing for a "special movie experience for persons who might otherwise become overwhelmed during typical movie-watching."
The Honeywell Foundation launched an $18 million renovation campaign to overhaul the more than 110-year-old theater. Work on the project began that September.
