The commissioner of the Indiana Department of Workforce Development is stepping down. A spokesperson for Governor Eric Holcomb has confirmed Steve Braun will resign August 30 after three years in the role.

A specific reason for Braun’s resignation was not given. In an email to Inside INdiana Business, Holcomb spokesperson Stephanie Wilson would only say, "The reason why will be clear soon."

IndyPolitics.org publisher Abdul Hakim-Shabazz reports the move adds to rumors Braun will run for Congress in the 4th Congressional District, a seat which is being vacated by Todd Rokita as he runs for U.S. Senate.

Braun previously served in the Indiana House of Representatives. His brother is State Representative Mike Braun (R-63), who is currently running for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.
