The Dubois County Community Foundation is the recipient of a $400,000 donation from the estate of Clement M. “Clem” Lange. The gift is designated for the Clem and Mary Lange Best Chairs Endowment for the Benefit of Ferdinand, Holland, and St. Henry, which was established in 2002 by the Langes.
The foundation says it plans to invest the gift, allowing it to grow and provide an annual grant for charitable projects in Ferdinand, Holland and St. Henry, per the wishes of the Lange family.
“Clem always believed in directly supporting the communities of Best employees and their families,” said Mary Lange. “Since the establishment of the endowment, funding for numerous projects have helped improve the overall quality of life. And now with this donation, and with the help of the Community Foundation, Clem’s legacy will continue to benefit our area for many years to come.”
Clem Lange is the founder of Best Home Furnishings, which makes chairs, sofas and other household furniture items.
“The impact of this gift will be felt on our community for generations,” said Clayton Boyles, executive director of the Community Foundation. “It is a great honor for the Community Foundation to have been named in the Lange estate. We’re grateful to Clem and the entire Lange family for this generous gift to our community.”
The foundation says the gift is the largest single contribution it has received this year.
