The Dow AgroSciences Innovation Center is co-located at an operation launched by parent The Dow Chemical Co. (NYSE: DOW) in 2013.
Dow AgroSciences Vice President of Research and Development Daniel Kittle says it "brings us directly into the center of one of the nation’s top computational sciences campuses. The University has excellent talent that will enable us to advance our global agricultural research efforts."
The Innovation Center will mostly be home to graduate-level students working on projects involving "advanced computational tools and analysis of chemical and biological datasets."
University of Illinois interim Chancellor Barbara Wilson says "the intersection of agriculture with data analysis continues to advance in intensity and complexity. To work on such problems in real-world scenarios is an invaluable opportunity for our students." She adds agriculture is becoming a "focal point" of the Research Park. Other major companies with a presence on the property include ADM, John Deere, Yahoo!, Anheuser-Busch InBev, Caterpillar, State Farm, Citrix, Raytheon and Abbott.
