Dollar General Doling Out Literacy Grants

Dollar General Doling Out Literacy Grants The Literacy Aliance of Fort Wayne is one of several grant recipients

Indiana nonprofit organizations are the beneficiaries of literacy grants from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation’s largest single-day grant announcement. The foundation announced $143,000 in grants which will support summer, family and adult literacy programs in Indiana. The foundation awarded over $8.6 million to 970 nonprofits across the country. 

“During these extraordinary times, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation remains steadfast in its commitment to support communities’ literacy and educational advancements through funds that will impact thousands of students across the country,” said Todd Vasos, Dollar General’s CEO and Dollar General Literacy Foundation board member.  “We are proud to support the meaningful and impactful work that each of today’s recipients conduct and support their ongoing efforts to help individuals improve their lives through literacy and education.”

  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Elkhart County, Inc., Goshen – $3,000
  • Converse-Jackson Township Public Library, Converse – $1,000
  • Dream Center, Evansville – $3,000
  • East Washington School Corporation, Pekin – $2,000
  • Friends of Bartholomew County Public Library, Columbus – $2,000
  • Greater Indianapolis Literacy League, Indianapolis – $10,000
  • Hobart Family YMCA, INC., Hobart – $3,000
  • Kosciusko Literacy Services, Inc., Warsaw – $7,000
  • Kosciusko Literacy Services, Inc., Warsaw – $10,000
  • La Casa de Amistad, South Bend – $10,000
  • Learn More Center, Inc., North Manchester – $8,000
  • Martin Luther King Multi-Service Center, Inc., Indianapolis – $3,000
  • Meadowview Elementary School, Shipshewana – $500
  • Neighbors’ Educational Opportunities, Inc., Portage – $8,000
  • New Beginnings, Indianapolis – $3,000
  • New Life Outreach Church Ministries, East Chicago – $5,000
  • Rising Sun – Ohio County Community School Corporation, Rising Sun – $3,000
  • Robinson Community Learning Center, South Bend – $10,000
  • Silver Creek High School Library, Sellersburg – $2,500
  • South Bend Community School Corp. Adult Education, South Bend – $10,000
  • South Whitley Community Public Library, South Whitley – $3,000
  • Sullivan Elementary School, Sullivan – $2,233
  • The Literacy Alliance, Inc., Fort Wayne – $10,000
  • The Literacy Center, Evansville – $10,000
