DNR awards $1.1M for lake and stream projects

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has awarded more than $1.1 million in grants to support 53 lake and stream projects through its Lake and River Enhancement, or LARE, program.
The funding will support sediment or logjam removal efforts in 10 counties, as well as projects to combat invasive plants involving 52 bodies of water in 13 counties.
The grants are funded through annual LARE fees paid by boat owners when they register their crafts with the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, the DNR said in a news release. The grants, the agency said, can provide economic benefits to lake communities by improving lake conditions for those who fish or boat.
Local sponsors must share at least 20% of the project cost. You can view the list of grant recipients below:
