The designation will help with marketing and promotion efforts for the Madison Arts and Cultural District.
The other state-certified districts are in Bloomington, Carmel, Columbus, Lafayette/West Lafayette and Nashville. The program was launched in 2008.
Madison Area Arts Alliance Executive Director Kim Nyberg says "this designation is perfect for Madison, for a small city, we have a uniquely large collection of creative people – from the visual art to writing, music, theater and culinary arts. This designation brings much attention to the community’s long effort and hard work to create a thriving community which values its historic architecture, natural beauty, and existing artists in all forms."
A ceremony is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Broadway Fountain in Madison. You can connect to more about the state’s Cultural District program by clicking here.
