Mintert spent the last decade leading the center and has been with Purdue since 15 years.
Hoosier Ag Today reported this week that Mintert officially retired on Dec 31. In his role at the Center for Commercial Agriculture, Mintert was the principal investigator for the Purdue/CME Group Ag Economy Barometer, which measures farmer sentiment nationwide.
Prior to joining Purdue, Mintert served as a professor of agriculture economics at Kansas State University for 23 years.
“Developing and conducting educational programs and applied research designed to address the needs of commercial agricultural producers has been immensely rewarding,” Mintert said in a Dec. 20 email to Hoosier Ag Today. “It’s been 10 years since I took on the role of Center Director and it has been the highlight of my career.”
Michael Langemeier, associate director of the Center for Commercial Agriculture, has been tapped to succeed Mintert as director.
