Indianapolis-based MiraVista Diagnostics LLC has announced a $5.3 million expansion. The fungal disease testing company says it plans to add up to 31 jobs by 2021 and double the size of its headquarters. MiraVista currently employs 44 and says hiring is expected to begin next year for positions including customer service representatives, laboratory technicians, research scientists and sales and marketing associates. The new positions are expected to pay average wages that will be higher than the state and Marion County average.
A groundbreaking is expected to take place later this month and construction could take about a year. The new facility will include a larger infectious disease diagnostic lab, which the company says will help it diversify and boost research and development and production of in-vitro diagnostic devices.
Founder Lawrence Joseph Wheat says "the city of Indianapolis and Decatur Township have been great places to grow and provide diagnostic testing services both nationally and globally. As the second largest exporter of life sciences products in the U.S., only behind California, it’s been a tremendous source of pride to contribute to Indiana’s robust research and life sciences industries. The state and city continue to demonstrate a strong commitment to attracting and keeping businesses and talent here in Indiana."
The more than 15 year old company has been offered up to $325,000 in conditional tax credits and training grants from the Indiana Economic Development Corp. You can connect to more about the expansion plans by clicking here.
