Construction on new a shell building in Seymour is underway. Jackson County Industrial Development Corp. Executive Director Jim Plump says the $1.4 million project gives companies that could potentially locate to Seymour what they want.
"We believe this is an opportunity, since more than 50 percent of the inquiries that we get, companies are looking for existing buildings as opposed to land to expedite their process," he said. Plump adds that project could be an option for existing businesses.
The project received a final nod from the city’s plan commission mid-January.
The 70,000 square-foot facility will be built by Seymour-based TDAK Development Inc. on the East Side Industrial Park property. The development is a collaboration between the builder and Seymour Industrial Corp.
Officials held a groundbreaking ceremony for the building Wednesday.
