WESTFIELD, Ind. – A September 25, 2014 groundbreaking ceremony signaled the start of construction for Copper Trace, the newest senior living community from Bloomington-based CarDon & Associates. The new community will offer Westfield, Zionsville, Carmel and surrounding areas comfortable, inviting accommodations and state-of-the-art services for assisted living, short-term rehabilitation, long-term care and memory care.
Located at 1250 West 146th Street in Westfield, Copper Trace's $19 million phase 1 of construction will feature private suites and apartment homes accommodating up to 176 residents. This includes 36 private one and two-bedroom assisted living apartments as well as four neighborhoods, each with 26 skilled nursing suites, a separate entrance and restaurant-style dining room. A progressive rehabilitation center and therapy gym will be the primary settings for CarDon’s signature program STARS (Specialized Therapeutic and Rehabilitative Services) offering short and long-term physical, occupational and speech therapies. In addition, memory support will be provided by specially trained staff in a secure environment.
CarDon's family-first approach to senior living and healthcare is evident in the design of Copper Trace. “We've seen the impact of designing spaces that appeal to families, as well as residents,” said Dr. Stephen Moore, president and chief executive officer of CarDon & Associates. “We want residents to feel comfortably at home and their guests to fully enjoy the time they spend here. When families and friends visit more often and interact with loved ones in a number of ways, it makes all the difference in a resident's experience and quality of life.”
Carroll and Donna Moore opened the first CarDon community in 1977. In the early 2000s, Dr. Moore and his three siblings assumed the organization's operations from their parents. Today, CarDon employs nearly 2,300 people at its 18 locations throughout central and southern Indiana. Their communities offer a combination of independent living, assisted living, rehabilitation and long-term care.
“We're excited to bring Copper Trace’s continuum of healthcare services to Westfield,” said Dr. Moore. “Area residents will no longer need to travel or leave the community to have access to residential living and quality healthcare services as they will be offered here in one location.”
Copper Trace is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2015. In addition to new construction jobs, CarDon anticipates creating in excess of 125 new healthcare-related positions at the community.
An onsite information center at Copper Trace will open spring 2015, where visitors will be able to preview plans for the community, including floor plans of the assisted living apartment homes.
