Crown Point-based Hawk Development Corp. is proposing a $100 million development in the Lake County city. Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report plans include an anchor retail store, strip center, hotels and restaurants. The developer says it needs the city to extend Delaware Parkway in order to satisfy potential retailers.

City Engineer Tris Miles estimates the potential four-lane road could cost up to $1.2 million.

The city's redevelopment commission this week unanimously approved $25,000 to survey the land where the roadway could be expanded.

Hawk currently owns nearly 70 acres in the area and says the new businesses would not duplicate any that are currently located nearby.
