Developer Scraps Planned Richmond Project
A proposal to transform two historic downtown Richmond buildings into senior housing is off the table. The Palladium Item reports Georgia-based developer The Integral Group is pulling out because of “uncertainty” relating to funding. The company was seeking assistance from the state through Richmond's Stellar Communities status and an additional $300,000 loan from the city.
Richmond officials say the project was never considered eligible for Stellar money.
Plans called for the developer to renovate the former Odd Fellows building, improve and expand the old Birck's Hardware building and connect the structures with a walkway.
