Developer Pulls Plug on Fort Wayne Project
The developer planning to build “Center at Union Chapel” on the northside of Fort Wayne has backed out. The company did not provide the reason for backing away, but our partners at WPTA 21Alive report it follows community resistance of the proposed project. The multimillion-dollar project was planned to include a gym, restaurant, apartment complex and hotel.
Those opposed to the project listed noise, traffic congestion and the potential of lowering property values as reasons for their resistance.
Local planners expect a lower density project will select the site that is located in an “up and coming” area.
