Deputy Surgeon General Visiting ISU

The U.S. deputy surgeon general is taking part Friday in a nursing-focused event on the Indiana State University campus. Rear Admiral Sylvia Trent-Adams is the keynote speaker at Lambda Sigma Chapter Annual Research Day, a day-long program organized by the Lambda Sigma Nursing Honor Society and the ISU School of Nursing.
Trent-Adams’ presentation will cover promoting public health and translating evidence into practice. The former chief nursing officer of the U.S. Public Health Service served as acting surgeon general from April through September of last year. In her current role as deputy surgeon general, she focuses on supporting the surgeon general’s Public Health Service Commissioned Corps operations and communicating the best available scientific information for the benefit of the nation’s health.
