Sami Aziz has been appointed director of DePauw University’s Center for Spiritual Life. It’s believed that he is the first Imam to ever direct a spiritual life program at a college in the United States. Aziz most recently served as Muslim Chaplain at Wesleyan University in Connecticut.

He has worked with over a dozen educational and service-based organizations in the American Muslim community over the last decade and is founder of the Common Ground Institute. Aziz holds a master’s degree in Islamic Studies & Muslim-Christian Relations from Hartford Seminary and is currently in the process of completing his Doctor of Ministry degree at Hartford Seminary, where his research focuses on chaplaincy in higher education.
